All in all, sales are done. Finished. Dwindling down. Last weekend was all about searching for bargains hitting up all the Labor Day sales, and this weekend is all about pouncing on new shipments and the latest products. Don’t drive all over town searching for what’s hot. I have already done the driving, searching, and calling for you.

The Whimsey Shoppe just got their French antique shipment in and they have the banners on the front of the building to prove it.

Anthropologie skipped out on the Labor Day sale and decided to mark all upholstery 25% off (now-Sept. 30). Yes, you can get this cute couch for 25% off.

Donald, Home Buyer at Stanley Korshak, is just back from NYC market. He has some amazing things coming in (some have already begun to trickle in). Just ask him about what’s coming-he will be pumped to tell you!

Like I mentioned yesterday, Nest is the place to see and be seen. Brand new lines and brand new Florentine art upstairs.

As evidenced in Stacy Hyde’s windows, they have a fresh array of product (love all of the colorful pillows!).

Prayers for Blair

If you’re the praying sort, we could use some help here. Blair Newport is at Baylor Hospital right now for pain management because of the tumors on his spine. They are hoping to do radiation to decrease the size of the tumors, and a vocal chord is paralyzed. I know so many of you have called and gone to see him, and he loves every minute of it, but right now, prayers the thing.

Doin’ the Ritz with Sherry Hayslip

No one better to tour the Ritz Carlton residences with than Sherry Hayslip who has decorated a good portion of them. She took me on a tour yesterday just to show the different sides of Hayslip Designs. First, a modern bachelor pad that you will see in the October DHome - slick, masculine, and a huge pool table in the dining room. Bachelor, remember - I won’t go into the inflated dinosaur protecting the pool table. Next up, the latest version of the Palace of Versailles with traditional 23 karat gilding, fabulous millwork in the Hall of Mirrors, and the lady’s “Bathing Chambers.” Will, how much does Sherle Wagner love Sherry Hayslip? Then we went to see a modern interior with Oriental influence - perfect for the “ethno-sophisticate” living there. This was done on a shoestring, not something one usually associates with Sherry Hayslip, but it does show the genius of design - Z Gallery chests with “The Bed” from John Hutton at David Sutherland. Or $1500 pillows on a close out sofa from Robert Allen. Brilliant.

Snider Plaza’s go-to for Italian-chic, fab finds, Nest, completely remodeled their store this past week. They also welcome tons of new products (in love with this desk!; $3,500) and brand new work by artist, Robbie Shackelford, in their upstairs art gallery. Check out our video of Nest’s Fall 2008 from the comfort of your home here. I really think it is something you will want to see for yourself though. The weather could not be more beautiful today, so get going. No excuses. Go.

Dan just sent me an image of a glass he found at Write Selection (Preston Royal Shopping Center) with the same look. A Lone Star and a Dallas Catstudio glass…doesn’t get more Texas than that. $11.25 each and they have 12 in stock.

I have lived in some pretty amazing cities (Austin, New York, etc.) and as far as I’m concerned, nothing beats Big D. I have this very hand-stitched pillow on my bed at home to prove my love and admiration for this city. It hits all the hot-spots (Neiman’s, America’s Team, the Mansion) and is super-cute. Not so much a fan of Dallas? Pillows for various cities and states, such as Chi, NYC, Texas, and some of those countries across the pond are available here. All are $149.

Bulbmania at the Dallas Arboretum

Any event where “mania” is involved gets my support. Thus I direct you to the end of the month “Bulbmania” event at the Dallas Arboretum. You will hear a talk by Brent Heath of Brent and Becky’s Bulbs from Virginia (their motto: “plant bulbs and harvest smiles”). Plus you’ll have a chance to order pre-chilled bulbs that you can take with you or receive via mail in November. I am so there. Mark September 27 from 9 to 12:30 on your agenda now.

You can view magnificent antique textiles at museums - from a distance, please; but starting Sept 7, you can have your own. Touch all you want. Next week, Loyd-Paxton is having a special sale of textiles they have collected through the years. They are either custom framed in-house with the flawless eye of Loyd and Paxton or have the original antique frame, some dating from the Qing Dynasty period - you remember that, don’t you. It also gives you a chance to visit their highly dramatic showroom in it’s most pedestrian location surrounded by trucking companies on Irving Blvd.
