Mike Modano’s backyard
On Friday we’re shooting Mike Modano’s backyard. I’m kind of nervous and excited about it, because he’s famous. The yard is charming, however. A nice guy named Jarod Cossell brought it to us. Cossell, who owns Earthquake Exteriors (what a name!), worked closely with Mandy Modano (a.k.a. Willa Ford) to design it, and it’s got a definite Italian feel to it, which she loves. Lots of wonderful fountains made from huge urns, and beautiful stone unearthed from a small quarry in Arkansas. You’ll get to see the Modano’s yard, along with the Modanos themselves barbequeing, in our July issue. Mike has promised us some of his favorite recipes. We figure they’ll go something like this,”Put steak on grill.”
We’re game.

And he uses a hockey stick to flip steaks onto the grill with his wicked wrist-shot or slap-shot from the kitchen…no need for walking with them to the grill. However Mandy is annoyed because he had a horn and flashing light installed for when the steak lands right on the grill via sensor.
Not to brag,or anything…BUT when I was preggers with the spawn,(back when Mike Modano was unattached…swoon), he touched my pregnant belly. I usually felt a little creeped out by strangers doing that. With him, though, it felt normal.
Amanda, I’d love to know why, when and how Mike Modano put his hand on your preganant belly, but we want this shoot to happen, so can you wait till June? Thanks
Any idea how much of his money she spent on this?
Aren’t house valuations seriously depressed in Dallas? I hope they’re not planning on selling anytime soon!
Rebecca, it looks like Mr. Modano will be in San Jose on Friday. Will you guys reschedule the shoot? or shoot without Mike?
Dear HockeyFan and GoStars — we’re shooting the yard on Friday, then after the playoffs and inbetween Mandy’s blossoming film schedule, we’ll photograph them barbequeing. I still get nervous being in their backyard, even if they are not there. The yard is not fancy –looks like any young couple’s backyard actually, who had a little bit of budget to work with. Cossell made it look great without anything over the top. I just hope it doesn’t rain on Friday…

I realize this is an attempt to compete with the Morrows new house, but Mike’s salary is due to take a 40% cut next season. She might want to slow down on spending the money.
What “blossoming” film schedule? Has she managed to secure a role that will garner her an AVN award?
I, being inside that pregnant belly at the time, am very happy that I indirecly met Mike…
