We are currently hard at work on the May/June issue of D Home. As you may or may not know, I’m responsible for the calendar section, and I usually procrastinate as long as I can in writing it. Not so, this time. I even had the perfect opener: Antiques Roadshow is headed for Dallas in May. But after talking to the good people at PBS, I’ve learned that I can’t run it in that issue. The problem: you have to get your tickets by April 20. No ticket, no entry. Jump for the skinny (plus my prose), for those who care.
Forget Extreme Home Makeover; the PBS program Antiques Roadshow is the show that brings a tear to my eye. Here’s why: First of all, Ty Pennington has nothing on Leigh and Leslie Keno. Next, who wants to be a contestant on Extreme? Sure you get a new house, but you also have a terminal illness. Last, every single one of us has a garish vase that Aunt Louise punished us with on our wedding day. Wouldn’t it be lovely to find out it’s actually an ancient relic worth $1 million? Make those dreams a reality when the Roadshow comes to town in June. Grab two items for appraisal, get directly to the Dallas Convention Center, and cross your fingers for a big payday. Jun 28. Tickets are a lottery system and you apply online at their website. I went in San Antonio last year and had a blast! I am waiting to see if I get tickets for the Dallas show now.
I have always wanted to go to an Antiques Roadshow & have 2 items I desperately want appraised, but I wasn’t lucky enough to be chosen. If there is ANY way someone can help me obtain tickets, I will pay a reasonable price.
I even posted a “wanted” request on Craigslist & will place an ad in the Dallas Morning news.
Please!
