From reader Tricia Allen Scruggs: “Thanks so much for your post of the NYT article. Wonderful read! When we first married in 2004, my husband and I would ride around and look at gorgeous homes, picturing ourselves in one of them. A year later we bought our “dream fixer,” a colonial in Lochwood Meadows. Painting the front door red was my very first house project. What’s interesting is that the desire to go on those rides quickly subsided after our move. Now the only lustful thoughts I have are of Tuscan villas.
“Well, a few months ago a neighbor stopped by. He couldn’t hold back any longer and just had to tell us how great the lawn looked (it really did look great), that he lives a few blocks away and that while he could take a quicker, more direct route home, each day he takes the one that passes directly in front of our house. We also learned that he wanted to buy our house when it was on the market, but his wife wouldn’t let him!”
