This Saturday, see the jump for deets. I am chairing this puppy, and it seems there is a crisis du jour or hour. But I promise you this will be a glorious tour–and the weather also promises to be gorgeous. (Makes me feel so bad for the monsoons my Preservation Dallas friends experienced last week.) Bring a picnic basket and stroll along White Rock Lake. We are even going to have a wine tasting from Barefoot Winery…

Annual Dallas County Medical Society Alliance Foundation Home Tour to
Benefit Local Community Health Organizations
DALLAS – February TBD – The Dallas County Medical Society Alliance Foundation (DCMSAF) 2007 Around the Table, Around the Lake Home Tour will take place April 14, 2007. From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., four White Rock Lake area homes will be open to the public for tours highlighting exquisite kitchens, gardens and living areas. Guests also will enjoy cooking demonstrations and tastings by four prominent chefs while viewing table settings by Dallas’ finest designers and florists.
“Each beautiful home offers something truly unique, from highly contemporary to charming classic design,” says Mary Candace Evans, Around the Table, Around the Lake 2007 Home Tour chair. “We are pleased to give the community a glimpse into these magnificent residences. We thank the generous homeowners for opening their doors in support of our deserving beneficiaries, and appreciate the accomplished chefs and creative designers who are making this a multi-dimensional event.”
The following homes will be featured on this year’s tour:
The Reeves Home – After just one year of residency, Brad and Holly Reeves and their two children have made this house their home. Built in 1986 by Peterson Designs, the home is classic with vast living spaces, spacious outdoor living and, of course, beautiful views of the lake. The extensive landscape design is by Pearl Cove Landscaping, and Bonnick Landscape Design undertook the pool renovation. Kathleen Goeller of Kathleen Designs helped the Reeves design the home of their dreams. For the tour, Tony Gates of Urban Flowers will be creating floral arrangements. Tablescapes are courtesy of the new home, james! store on Travis Walk, and pastry chef Monica Carter of Abacus will be at the stove.

The Herndon Home – Trey and Robin Herndon completed their ultra-contemporary home built by Harry Purdom and designed by Mark Domiteaux in 2001, complete with sleek white walls and concrete floors. Now with two children, the home works perfectly for their growing family, which also includes a multitude of pets. As a glass artist, Robin works out of her studio located in the back of the house. The home’s clean-lined furnishings incorporate family collections reflecting Robin’s Asian heritage. The landscape design is by David Rolston. For the tour, the home will feature floral design by Cymbidium, and tablescapes by Stanley Korshak Home. Mickie Crockett of Trader Vic’s will be cooking up a storm in the kitchen.
The Juett Home – Kate and Dana Juett moved into their 1940’s era home one year ago, after purchasing it from the original owners. They have since updated the kitchen with the help of builder Cy Barcus. The bathrooms are original, as is the hand painted wallpaper in the dining room. The furnishings are family pieces from the late 19th and early 20th century, including the predominately 20th century art collection. Kate is a prolific artist whose work is seen throughout the home. For the tour, all floral and tablescape arrangements will be Kate’s own design, and Capital Distributing’s Lisa Aldana will provide one of their chefs in the Juett’s kitchen.
Guests will also get a chance to tour Kate’s studio and enjoy a light wine tasting on the patio.
The Raymond Home – Anne and Rob Raymond’s “Hill Country Contemporary” home was designed by Rob Raymond and built by Garry Brown. The Raymond’s commissioned the talent of interior designers Molly Sullivan and Marci Barnes of Sullivan Barnes Associates to create a mix of clean architectural forms and warm textiles. The Raymond family enjoys landscaping by David Rolston and the pool by McEwan Pools. For the tour, Christopher Whanger will create floral designs, while Claudia Armstrong from At My Table in Snider Plaza will set an amazing table inside and out. Chef Mansour Gorji from Canary Café with Whole Foods will be working his magic in the kitchen.
Around the Table, Around the Lake home tour tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door and are available by contacting Susan Hughes at (972) 473-4771 or HughesJD01@verizon.net.
The Dallas County Medical Society Alliance (DCMSAF) is the oldest continuously operating Medical Alliance in the nation. Comprised of Dallas-area physician spouses and physicians, members have worked tirelessly improving community health since 1917. DCMSAF is a non-profit organization enhancing community life through educational opportunities. This includes encouraging healthy lifestyles and health education, preventing childhood obesity, funding beneficiaries who provide health care and medicine to the neediest, funding nursing education as well as owning and maintaining the historic Aldredge House on Swiss Avenue, the Alliance’s headquarters. In years past, Texas ranked among the poorest performing states in providing children with basic childhood immunizations, a ranking that the Alliance has helped improve significantly through its participation in the “Bee Wise, Immunize” program. [...] Wait, maybe you better not: all the doctors in town will be down on Slocum Street in the Design District checking out the showrooms for the benefit of the Dallas County Medical Society Alliance Foundation, sponsored by D Home. Our phones have been ringing off the hook — my co-chair Sandi Ciarochi says people have been asking where they can buy tickets. The event is free but the DCMSAF will be happy to take any donations! Doctors, spouses, and the whole darn town will be down on Slocum Street. Latest item in the auction — don’t have a photo of it — but a gorgeous marble table and four chairs. And…one of the kitchen and bath showrooms is donating a $500 gift certificate to another lucky bidder. So if you in the market for a new house or kitchen, get thee hence to Slocum Street tomorrow, check-book and credit card in hand! [...]
