Received this LH homeowner’s association crime report today. All looks pretty standard until the third paragraph.
“I received additional information about the residential burglary on Viewside at Tory Sound that was mentioned in the Crimewatch report on Monday, Jan. 29.
Between Thursday evening (Jan. 25) and Friday morning (Jan. 26), unknown suspects entered a vehicle by unknown means while parked outside the residence in the 9600 block of Viewside. The suspects found a garage door opener inside the vehicle and used it to open the garage door. A set of golf clubs and other undetermined items were apparently stolen.
The police advise that many crimes are motivated by those that are seeking money to purchase illegal drugs. Increased border security decreases the illegal drug supply. The criminal drug-users have become more desperate. These criminals are opportunists and will go after anything that is easy to steal, regardless of the apparent value.”
I don’t understand the logic here. I mean, wouldn’t this mean that the money supply is low, not the drug supply? And aren’t drug users typically “opportunists that will go after anything” by definition? More importantly, is this some sort of subtle endorsement for the Tex/Mex Wall? Which makes me think this: If better border security means more crime in Dallas, wouldn’t we want less border security? Just a thought…
