MARY NIX SHOULD RUN FOR MAYOR

Haven’t heard of her yet? You will. Let me explain: Dallas has a new recycling program. I’ve been too busy to get details, but the City delivered nice big blue recycling cans to our homes shortly after New Year’s. We’ve recycled for years, back when I lugged bales of newspaper to Dry Gulch to last year’s blue/brown bag system. But now…

we in North Dallas have joined the big leagues with a regular bin for all the plastic, paper, metal, wine bottles. So why should Mary Nix run for mayor? Because Mary heads up this new recycling deal. The city did not pick up today. I called Mary at 5 p.m. An hour and a half later, she’s in her office working (this at City Hall!) and she calls, apologizes, tells me she’s sending the guys over tomorrow morn to pick it up. She was in the office answering her calls before she left for the day.

A city employee who doesn’t go home ’till her work is done: Mary Nix for mayor!
