SPEAKING OF DOGS…

Got this message from my homeowner association via e-mail blast (see jump).

We know about Roger’s story, and it seems like Dallas is having a rash of dog attacks lately. (Here’s what the postal workers think about dog attacks. They’re the most likely to get bitten).

But question for you guys: A leash on a dog in a car? Sometimes I take Petey straight from the garage to the car, go on my errand, then he’s back in the house. I have to say I don’t always leash him if I think he’ll just be in the car. Something to consider–God knows I don’t have the extra dough for a lawsuit.

Neighbors,

We had an incident that happened recently in our neighborhood that everyone should know about. One of our senior citizens was riding her bicycle and was attacked by a large dog belonging to another resident here in the neighborhood. If the owner had been obeying the leash law this would have been avoided. It is easy to become complacent and allow your dog to be off the leash because I’m sure your pet is well behaved at home. In this case, it took 40 stitches and a pending lawsuit to point out why we have a leash law in this city and why it really is a more than just a good idea to obey the law. This law is to protect fellow citizens.

Please do not take any chances with your dog, especially large dogs. It only takes a moment. In this case it was a situation where the owner did not have control of their dog as they were getting out of their car. It really was only a moment.
