Don’t worry, this will only be a brief political detour. Next week (Nov. 7) on your general election ballot, you will also be faced with the 2006 Capital Bond Program. If you value Dallas’ cultural assets, then vote yes. For more reasons why, jump.
Within this bond program is Proposition #5, which is a major building block for the development of the Dallas Arts District. Prop5 includes key arts initiatives such as:
-The design and construction of a 41,000-square-foot City Performance Hall and maintenance and renovation of many of the citys cultural assets.
-The design of a fire alarm system for the Dallas Museum of Art and repair of the paving of the courtyard in the Sculpture Garden on Ross Avenue.
-Support for the African American Museum, the Meyerson Symphony Center, the Dallas Theater Center, and other cultural assets.
The proposition will appear on page two of your ballot. Vote yes for the future of Dallas art.
