A loyal reader sent me the following fun response to my “Condition, Condition, Condition” blog:
“You are cracking me up! Here’s a quote from the Mathews Nichols web site, “Erin specializes in luxury properties in the Park Cities, Bluffview, Greenway Parks, Preston Hollow and selected high-rises along Turtle Creek.” Now those neighborhoods are way too pricey for any YOUNG creative type or weekend warrior looking for a remodel. Creative YOUNG buyers don’t make enough money for the above neighborhoods and are usually looking for an affordable home with charm, character, and history (which means a tear-down in her territory). Erin needs to get out more and mingle with YOUNG, real people at the nearest Home Depot.”
To explain–this is why I hate having to make things short–Erin and I were discussing her cute son Travis who sells more of those fixer-upper types and actually bought his own Briarwood fixer-upper himself. I want to help my daughter get a small first home, but she’s in law school and has no time–so the one doing the fixering would be me! So Erin commented that was the very reason why so many people at both ends of the price spectrum want it all done.
But I see a lot of young people at The Home Depot. Maybe I can grab a notebook, stand there one Saturday and do a “man-on-the-street” poll: “Are you a weekend warrior? And I’m not talking about video games.”
