HAT PEOPLE

I was out of the office for a good cause yesterday, judging the 19th annual Mad Hatters Tea Party at the Dallas Arboretum. We’re talking 450 pastel-suited ladies wearing hats, hats, and more hats. The weather gods smiled on the event — unlike the day before, it was not 100 degrees and unlike today, it was not raining. Actually the whole afternoon had an English wedding feel to it. The centerpiece was a Walker-Row fashion show, which was very well done. Jill Rowlett and Yvonne Crum were in charge of the judges, which basically meant we got great party favors and that there was no shortage of champagne even though I noticed that rather than a slender flute, fellow judge John Clutts was pouring his bubbly into a huge water goblet. Love that guy. A good time was had by all.
