THIS JUST IN…

The Park Cities Historical Society has been in talks with Preservation Park Cities concerning a possible merger! PPC’s board of directors has already approved the action, now the ball is in PCHS court. They just sent me a card asking for my opinion, and I’ll tell you how I voted…

Actually, you’ll have to read more to find out. PPC has been known on the street as the more aggressive preservation sociey, maybe a tad bit more anti-new home construction than PCHS. But not much. Both groups advocate the preservation of beautiful home structures and work on landmarking. The thinking is that merging these two groups will create “a synergism that is greater than the sum of the two organizations, which will energize us to do more for the community we represent,” says E. Taylor Armstrong Jr., president of PCHS. As for the proposed group’s new name: The Park Cities Historical and Preservation Society.

As for me, I voted yes. I am probably the only woman in PCHS who has an address north of Northwest Highway — but I’m cool; I’m south of LBJ. I know that groups such as these are finding it hard to survive and believe that merging will give them both strength. Just keep those dues affordable!
