COLOR TRENDS 06

The Color Marketing Group, hosted by Sherwin Williams, gave their color prognosis for the year last night at Vu Imports, 1615 Dragon St.–a charming showroom featuring Asian and Indian imports. Color forecasting is not just a bunch of people sitting around saying, “Blue, it’s blue this year,” but experts considering all venues from cars to vegetables, economic considerations, and even weather. Here goes…

Orange is the color that makes everything feel new.” But more earthy this year.

Relaxed Retreat gives us more blues and greens, fresh breezy colors. Blues become deeper, like indigo, and greens become more yellow. Great Escapes take us to exotic places like Russia and Morocco, and the colors are saturated and spicy. Natural Living brings all the colors of the outside in erasing the division between interiors and exteriors–flowers, peacock feathers, and tree bark. Fifth Avenue mixes sophisticated colors like plum and gray with all shades of brown–think coffee culture inspired by Starbucks. Red has gone away and become coral. It is just too ordinary and the expected bold color. Sorry, red! For your own color wheel, contact Emily.m.reid@sherwin.com.
