I wish everyone could accommodate my shopping needs like El Paso Import Company. Periodically, I get emails from the McKinney Avenue retailer, informing me of their latest finds — with photos no less. I don’t shop there often. But one such email led me to a wonderful rustic Indian cabinet that I use as a printer stand in my home office. Retailers take note: this is smart marketing. To sign up for the email, visit El Pasos Knox/Henderson location.
Everyone knows that D Home is my fifth child and that mothers always brag about their children. So indulge me. For magazine editors, the National Magazine Award is the equivalent of the Pulitzer Prize. The Emmy. The Big One. Every magazine in the country vies for the prize, from Sports Ilustrated to W to Vanity Fair. This year, in what can only be interpreted as a nod to D Home’s stature, I was asked to judge the first-round of entries. To quote D Magazine publisher Wick Allison, “man, they never asked me to do that.” It’s a big deal. Go D Home!
More accolades for Global Views’ Steven Yarbrough from the D Home Nation:
I agree with you wholeheartedly about Steven Yarbrough. His home decorative designs are the must-haves in DFW. A very talented young man! Have you seen what he has done in the Global Views WTC showroom?
No, I haven’t. But Peggy Levinson raved about it in an earlier post today. I think we need some pics to publish, people.
Run do not walk to Anichini. Their big sale of the year (x of Partners Card) starts today and runs through February 8. At the Plaza at Preston Center, 4040 Villanova. 20% off special orders and 20% to 40% off store stock.
Dallas’ own Richard Trimble and wife Pat were recently shopping for antiques in New York for an English country house they are designing in Preston Hollow. Noted designer Carlton Varney followed them from store to store inquiring about them, and what they were buying. When asked, he said he thought Pat was a princess. Our own Dallas royalty! Of course, we already knew Richard was a prince.
Help if you can. SOS from Kent Rathbun.

I had a pre-market lunch with Global Views owners David Gebhart and Frederick Rayner in their WTC showroom. What a treasure chest! These guys have created a multi-million dollar business trading with factories all over the world, creating great home accessories at great prices. You see their products all over Dallas in various stores and showrooms. This is a Dallas jewel - decorative and fun. And the color blocked showroom is great display.

Last night, I had the pleasure of meeting Katy Hubener, a Realtor from Grand Prairie, who is running for the seat vacated by Representative Ray Allen in the 106 State House District. She is the endorsed candidate in this race for the Texas Association of Realtors, and about to be endorsed by another professional association as well! Good luck in that Special Election, Katy, and I cannot wait ’till there’s a Realtor In The House!
