I’m not a cook. Until recently, I was a vegetarian for 10 years and am still finding out that meat cooks differently than tofu. Despite this, I decided that this year would be the year I would take a shot at a turkey (on account of me trying to impress my hot new boyfriend). And let me just say, I may not deserve to be called chef, but I’m well on my way thanks to this Martha Stewart recipe. It’s actually a recipe from Chris Schlesinger, chef and owner of the East Coast Grill and Raw Bar in Cambridge, Mass. The breast meat stayed juicy and had a smoky flavor we attributed to the whiskey. The only element of the recipe I didn’t follow was the stuffing. My family voted for the good ole boxed kind.
I enjoyed eating it, but the kudos were tastier. I used a fresh, free range turkey from Central Market (Martha suggests using fresh turkeys when possible). Thanks, Martha. View an image of me and my bird.
